What Is the difference between a timing belt and timing chain?
The most obvious difference between a timing belt or timing chain is that belts are made of rubber and chains are made from metal chains. They ultimately do the same job in a vehicle by connecting the engines crankshaft to the camshaft.

Timing belts are typically less expensive and were used more frequently in vehicles up until the late 1990s. You’ll need more frequent checkups and should get a belt replacement every 60,000-100,000 miles, depending on your vehicle.

• If your vehicle has sat in storage for some time, with temperature fluctuations a timing belt can experience cracking
